Other places to go for "Freakazoid!" information: The Freakalair, Keeper's Cartoon Files

    Introduction:
Sure, you know who O.J. is, and you can spot a reference to "Seinfeld"
or "Star Wars" a million billion miles away. But are you familiar with
"The Crawling Eye," "F-Troop," or the films of William Castle and Ed Wood?
"Freakazoid!," the greatest and most hilarious achievement of WB TV
Animation, is filled with truly obscure references to '50s and '60s
B-movies, old TV shows, and other out-of-the-way stuff in addition to
the expected cornucopia of topical jokes and parodies. The purpose of
this document is to identify and explain as many of these allusions as
possible, thus enhancing your enjoyment of the show and preventing you
from having to spend the rest of your life wondering "was that a reference
to something?"
No one person could possibly catch all the references on "Freakazoid!,"
and no one person did. This document has been compiled and edited from
posts made to the alt.tv.freakazoid and alt.tv.animaniacs newsgroups,
and it owes its existence to the sharp eyes, ears, and memories of F!
fans everywhere.

SUBMISSION POLICY

Of course, even the collective efforts of the most watchful Freakazoid
fanatics can sometimes come up short, and it's entirely possible--no,
make that probable--that there are still some references that haven't
been identified yet. That's where you come in. If you have any references
to add to this document, you are urged, nay, begged, to do so, but here
is the simple process which you are asked to follow:
    1. Read the M.O.R.O.N. entry for whatever episode contains the
reference you've spotted, and make sure that someone else hasn't noticed
it already.
    2. Please POST the new reference or references to the newsgroup
alt.tv.freakazoid, and put "CR" somewhere in the subject heading so I'll
know it isn't another spam (that's all we seem to get in a.t.f. these
days).
If you see an entry that contains factual errors or is simply way
off the mark, then e-mail me directly with the correction.

EDITORIAL POLICY

As the editor, I take responsibility for deciding what goes in the
guide; basically, any reference is fair game unless it's totally,
blatantly, absurdly obvious (so, for instance, when someone mentions
Steven Spielberg on the show, I don't think there's much need to explain
who he is).
It is assumed that anything posted on Usenet is open for inclusion
here unless I am specifically asked not to.
Contributors are indicated by their initials in brackets at the end
of an entry. If two or more people identify the same reference, I try
to credit the one who posted it first (although this is sometimes hard
to tell with archived posts); if a whole bunch of people identify it,
the credit is "many." No credit after an entry indicates that no one
mentioned this reference but it's obvious enough that I don't feel
justified in taking credit for spotting it.
The format used in this guide is based on that of the Cultural
Reference Guide to Animaniacs by the esteemed Will B. Bell. The main
symbols used are as follows:

    + A real, true reference.
    - Not really a reference but just an interesting observation that
I thought ought to be included here.
DYN: Did you notice. Generally used to point out little things in
the background that you may have missed.
Nit: A minor error or inconsistency.
